The Building Science and Technology Centre (CSTB) is a public body serving the construction industry. It employs some 800 people in five centres in France, including 70 at the Grenoble unit. It aims to improve the quality and safety of buildings, so it makes sense that CSTB should take an interest in energy-efficient buildings and smart housing. Through its consultancy activities it contributes to the construction of new High Environmental Quality (HQE) certified buildings, to optimize energy saving in materials, insulation, ventilation, the efficiency of heating and cooling systems, energy management and the integration of new energy sources including solar power. CSTB is one of the partners in Ines and in the cluster Tenerrdis .
