Clinatec raised €5 m through the donation collection launched in October thanks to the mobilization of sponsors and private donors. Plus, as pledged, the Edmond J. Safra Foundation matched the €5 m, bringing the Clinatec total to €10 million.
2016 has been a year of scientific consolidation. The donations will now provide for major clinical advances in four main areas in 2017: the use of an exoskeleton system to give mobility to quadriplegics, near-infrared radiation to slow Parkinson’s disease, a brain-implanted cooling system capable of blocking epileptic seizures, and Deep Brain Stimulation treatment of drug-resistant Obsessive Compulsive Disorders.
The Clinatec endownment fund and Assystem also received an ABNL Non-Profit Award from the French BFM Business news media for exemplary partnership in supporting medical research.
