DuPont Nutrition and Health (Danisco) is planning to invest $60 million in its European factories in order to meet growing demands for frozen and freeze-dried lactic acid bacteria for yogurts, fermented fromage frais and cheeses. The first phase of this investment plan will begin in 2017 and focus on factories in Sassenage (near Grenoble-Isère) and Epernon. The investments will increase the factories’ capacity for fermentation, biomasse separation and freeze-drying. The next phase will provide investments for the company’s factory in Niebüll, Germany.
The company’s investment plan was launched to anticipate growing demand. The dairy industry is expected to experience strong growth over the next five years, in particular due to an increase in demand from Asian countries as well as growing needs in the cheese and cheese-product industries.
