The French cable car manufacturer recently signed two major contracts. The first one represents a 38 million euro order by La Compagnie des Alpes, the world leader of ski resorts. Delivery will include five ski lifts for the Val d’Isère, Tignes, Méribel, La Plagne and Serre Chevalier ski resorts. Construction will begin this summer and is expected to be completed by December 2018. The five ski lifts will be produced and assembled in the Auvergne-Rhônes-Alpes region. The cabins will be built in Isère by Sigma, a subsidiary of POMA. The cable transport system will be produced at POMA’s recent industrial location in Gilly en Savoie. In 2016, POMA had already invested 20 million euros in the site in order to expand and reinforce its industrial tools.
The second contract, worth 55 million euros, will enable POMA to design, install, run and maintain the first urban cable car in Saint-Denis on the Réunion island. Construction will begin in 2019 and is expected to be completed within a year. The cable car line will span 2.68 kilometers and be able to carry 1,200 passengers per hour.
