Christophe Ferrari, President of the Greater Grenoble City Area, and Laith Altimime, President of SEMI Europe, are delighted to invite you to join them for a press conference where SEMI Europe’s commitments to the Grenoble Area will be outlined.
The press conference takes place on:
Wednesday January 25th at 1pm
in Room Chrome 4
Following the European 3D Summit, which takes place in Minatec on January 23rd-25th, SEMI Europe is renewing its continued strategic cooperation with Grenoble´s public authorities and ecosystem leaders as one of Europe’s most innovative high-tech clusters.
2017 started very positively with the establishment of a SEMI Europe Governance Committee in Grenoble, headed by Mrs. Anne-Marie Dutron, SEMI Europe Chief Technology Officer Emerging Technologies, which aims to engage Grenoble and Dresden´s microelectronics clusters. The Grenoble board of directors (including the AEPI, Soitec, STMicroelectronics, CEA-Leti, Recif Technologies, Fogale/ Unity, Grenoble INP and A2C) worked closely with SEMI management to obtain this commitment.
In addition, on SEMI Europe´s Calendar in 2017:
- Annual Strategic Planning Meeting between SEMI Staff and Grenoble public authorities and ecosystem leaders as follow-up of the mutual relationships
- Invitation of Grenoble ecosystem leaders to SEMI events in Europe & globally (ISS, SEMICONs, SEMI Brussels Forum, ITPC, Executive Summits, and many more)
Furthermore, SEMI will continue to invest in the Grenoble area by organising future executive events in Grenoble. On average, two international executive events per year will be held in Grenoble, with three summits planned in 2017:
- the 5th Edition of the 3D European Summit, January 23-25, 2017
- the 3rd Edition of the MEMS and Sensors Summit, jointly organized with MSIG on 20-22 September in Grenoble, France at Minatec Innovation Campus
- The very 1st Edition of the IMAGING & Sensors Summit to be held on 20-22 September 2017 in Grenoble, France at Minatec Innovation Campus.
Christophe Ferrari, President of the Greater Grenoble City Area:
“The Greater Grenoble City Area strongly supports its high-tech industrial sectors. The digital technologies sector, including micro- and nanoelectronics and software, is the most important for our territory. The digital technologies sector represents more jobs than any other industry in our city area and it covers the entire value chain, ranging from materials to the fabrication of microchips to software engineering and all its possible applications, for example, the creation of mobile phone applications and the development of the internet of things. The fact that we cover the entire value chain is remarkable and almost unique in the world, especially for a relatively small city. This is the strength of our city and contributes to our increasing notoriety as an innovation capital.”
Laith Altimime, President of SEMI Europe:
“The Grenoble ecosystem and its leaders are of strategic importance towards enabling the global industry's future road maps and applications across the whole value chain in our future connected world. SEMI would like to demonstrate its continued commitment to promote the excellence of the region at a global level as one of Europe’s R&D and manufacturing lighthouses and innovation pipeline of our industry.”
