Technology sectors
Information and communication technology, biotechnology and new energy technology account for more than 60,000 jobs in Grenoble-Isère, including 7,700 academic researchers and 12,700 students. The development of these three key technology sectors will enable a response to the social challenges of tomorrow.
Grenoble-Isère is, first and foremost, a point of convergence for stakeholders from the fields of research, higher education, business and the economic world. The resulting collaboration has led to the emergence of major technology sectors that are dynamic, innovative and play a strong structuring role. Each is organized around a competitive cluster, leading industrial firms, research laboratories, innovative SMEs and high-level training programmes. Thus, by working together on large federative projects, all the actors within a value chain are able to meet, exchange knowledge and operate in synergy.
Information and communication technology
3,000 graduates per year. 38,500 jobs in Grenoble-Isère, including 5,000 in public research. More than 500 companies, from start-ups to multinational groups. Information and communication technology is particularly dynamic in Grenoble-Isère.

Boasting a degree of multidisciplinarity that is rare in Europe, Grenoble-Isère has been able to successfully combine its knowledge of life science with its skills in the field of nanotechnology.
New energy technology
1,500 research posts, 900 students in higher education and 10,500 jobs in industry. Grenoble-Isère is equipped with first-rate assets in new energy technology at both French and European level. Grenoble-Isère believes these technologies will drive some of its most promising economic development projects in the coming years.
