sites, together with the Sophia Antipolis site, comprise Hewlett Packard’s three French competency centres, out of a total of 105 spread around the world. Their role includes solution development (both for consumers and companies),
technical support and services, and the management of the company’s global and European activities. Grenoble-Isère’s know-how is concentrated in PCs, software, and telecommunications systems and networks.

HP’s Grenoble competency centre, the first set up in France, is now the second largest in Europe. It is home to the global HP OpenCall software division, as well its marketing and R&D departments. It also houses the European headquarters for the PC, workstation, notebook and monitor segments, and performs marketing and supply chain activities for this division. In addition, over 250 engineers based in Grenoble coordinate all facilities management activities at European level, providing hosting, operational management and customer support solutions. HP also has a European development centre in storage, Linux solutions and High-Performance Calculation (HPC). The Isle d’Abeau site houses an internal training centre for all European engineers and experts. The site also manages the integration and development of bespoke telecoms solutions for operators and equipment manufacturers around the world.

HP works in partnership with Minalogic making available to PME and public and private research laboratories (Minalogic members), its supercalculator.
