Following the expansion of its carbon fiber factory, Hexcel announced it would be expanding its research center at Avenières in the Grenoble-Isère region. As a global leader in the field of composite materials, this expansion will create a second European research center dedicated to innovation for cutting-edge technologies. Expected to open mid-2018, the new location will include 2,500 square meters of laboratories and 1,000 square meters of office space.
This development is part of a €220 million investment and modernization program that should create more than 200 jobs by 2018.
In addition, Hexcel is developing new partnerships in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alps region with partners such as the CEA (to develop textile solutions for fuel cell diffusion layers) and the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne (a new research chair dedicated to vacuum infusion processes, co-funded by Airbus and Safran).
